Not the three elled llama

For a long time this mostly empty blog has been called LLama magic, as it says on the label it came in a blinding flash in about 2003 on a bike tour somewhere. Myself and a few friends rode past a hobby farm of the same name and something tickled our collective fancies - maybe it was the llama wool. For the rest of the morning and days to follow we sniggered and chuckled about "llama magic in the handy squeeze tube" and "giant family packs of llama magic".

Was it fair to appropriate their name for this blog? Who nose.

A renaming has been lurking in the isles for a while, spurred on by some of the more egregious grammatic faux pas and lousy pronunciation experienced in the modern media. Caution; frustrated proof-reader at work.

Well here we are; "Llama ardour" it is, a Mondegreen of sorts, catalysed by an advertisement for a Spanish film festival and left as an exercise for the reader.

Dormant but not dead...

A serial collector of accounts and websites, that's wot I is. Leaping from place to place, gotta stay up with the joneses, or that's what it seems like at times as your friends' migrate from mailing lists to livejournal, to blogger, to myspace and to facebook. What's the next step along the way? Maybe I should cut down, delete a few, but as with all addictions I can't quite bring myself to. There's always what I've got at http://ajft.org/

Olives in the garden

Olives in the garden
Originally uploaded by ajft.
For the first two years that we lived here the olive tree ignored us, I think it overheard the conversation where we discussing whether to chop it down and decided that it had better grow some fruit.

There are only a few of them, and I've got no idea how to prepare them or even to recognise when they're ripe! Might have to ask the old Greek lady over the back fence for some olive assistance.

Bugger, bugger, bugger; an expensive speed hump

Met a speed hump on the 5th of January, the Edge fell off, the bracket is cracked. Posted it off to be repaired, under warranty I hope, and hoped for the best...

Three weeks and not a word, today I called to find it can't be repaired (sad) but they are waiting on a replacement unit (happy).

A well-earned VB after Christmas shopping

Not much to say really. Walked over to Chadstone to avoid the mayhem that is the Christmas carpark, made a precision raid on the shops, acquired what was required, then left, post haste.

Here's the celebratory beer.

Melburn-Roobaix

Damn that was fun!

Major thanks to organisers and participants, I'm not sure what I expected but damn it was good!

Slept exceptionally well on Saturday night, disturbed only by bad dreams of pavé and col d'ugly!

Anyone with GoogleEarth can follow the route of the big blue bike by clicking on the track, but please no comments about the obvious navigational difficulties -- our route may be sub-optimal but it seemed to work at the time -- that was all part of the fun!
